“Never again!” I say after every move! How about you? When was your last moving experience?
Moving is physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausting for everyone. Thinking, packing, loading, unloading, thinking, unpacking, thinking, putting away, thinking, settling in. I am exhausted just thinking about it.
Moving ranks high on the list of most stressful experiences.
The first move I made was to Carleton University residence. I was nineteen years old and moved out of my big family home to my little dorm room in residence. My last move was out of another big family home, when I was 65, into another small space, our current apartment. And in between those two moves were 8 more moves. How about you? How many times have you moved?
This is probably how I looked and felt after each move.
Some moves are necessary. Other moves are just a desire for something different or better. But how about a moving experience without moving at all?
How about a moving experience that has nothing to do with all of your ‘stuff’ but everything to do with your heart, soul, and mind?
What about having a moving experience with no thinking, packing, loading, unloading, unpacking, and settling in?
There are only two steps to this kind of move: DWELL and REST.
Moving in an earthly sense is tough.
But there is a much better way to have a ‘moving experience’.
Psalm 91:1 says “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” My Bible tells Me So.
I like the sounds of that. There are only two steps: DWELL and REST. This I can handle! Just picture it – walking into the presence of God, staying there, doing nothing but dwelling, and what comes next? Rest! Could you use a rest today? A rest from your trials and troubles, your aches and pains, your anxiety and depression? Here is a simple solution. This is a promise.
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”
No matter what you are going through, just move into God’s shelter, dwell there, and rest in his shadow.
How about right now? God loves you and he knows you. He is always waiting for you to move into his everlasting arms, to experience his unfailing love.
Go ahead – dwell and then rest.
